Who doesn’t long to be loved? We all desire to belong to someone, to be chosen, cherished, and pursued. But in this search for love, sometimes we end up chasing our tails, looking for love in all the wrong places. It’s easy to lose ourselves, settling for relationships that demand too much while giving too little. The world’s idea of love often tells us that we must strive, compromise, and even change who we are just to be wanted.

But true love doesn’t work that way.

Genesis 29:20 says, “So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.”

Rachel didn’t have to beg for Jacob’s affection. She didn’t have to prove her worth or change herself to fit his expectations. Jacob saw her, loved her, and willingly worked for years to have her. His love for her was so deep that those years felt like mere days.

This verse made me realize that I have often viewed myself too low. To be honest, this is still my struggle. I have this tendency to do too much, to give my all, and to expect the same in return. But when love is forced, when it becomes a constant effort to be noticed or valued, it leads to exhaustion and heartbreak. Maybe that’s why I came across this Bible reading plan, 21 Days on Love—because God is still teaching me that real love is not something I have to chase or earn.

If you ever find yourself striving to earn someone’s love, take a step back. God’s design for love is not about desperation or compromise—it is about being pursued, honored, and loved in a way that reflects His own love for us.

If this message speaks to you, I invite you to join me on this 21-day journey on love. Tomorrow, I’ll be reflecting on Leviticus 19:9-18, which teaches us about loving our neighbors as ourselves. Prayer

Lord God, thank You for reminding me that true love does not have to be chased or earned. Teach me to rest in the love You designed—steady, honoring, and reflecting Your heart. Heal my tendency to strive for acceptance and help me to see my worth through Your eyes alone. Guide me into relationships that are healthy and rooted in truth, and continue shaping my heart to love others without fear, pressure, or desperation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
